Awarding Excellence and Compassion

Each year Regis recognises and celebrates the outstanding contribution our employees make every day with the Regis National Staff Awards.

The awards celebrate the skill, compassion and vitality of Regis staff in multiple clinical categories as well as recognise the innovations, outstanding leadership and generous contributions from volunteers. Here are last year’s phenomenal winners.

2019 Initiative or Innovation of the Year

Winner: Wishing Tree

We recognise staff who have made a positive impact to Regis by sharing their ideas that have improved or developed a product, service or process through:

  • An initiative which has had a positive impact on our customers or the business
  • An outcome which demonstrates Regis’ commitment to ongoing improvement and an innovative approach
  • Proving the importance of this initiative or innovation.

2019 Service Excellence (Regis People Supporting Regis People)

Winner: Nick Nagel

We recognise staff who have made a positive impact by the support they provide to other staff through:

  • Providing exceptional service and meaningful support to Regis colleagues
  • Proficiency, humanity, initiative and reliability
  • A consistently friendly and helpful demeanour
  • A strong commitment to the broader Regis team.

2019 Service Excellence (Regis People Supporting Customers and Family)

Winner: Leanne Whiter

We recognise staff who have made a positive impact by the support they provide through:

  • Exceptional personal service to customers
  • Proficiency, humanity, initiative and reliability
  • A consistently friendly and helpful demeanour
  • A strong focus on providing for the needs of our customers.

2019 Outstanding Hospitality and Lifestyle Services (Formally Known as Outstanding Facility Services)

Winner: Patricia Carter

We recognise staff who have made a positive impact through:

  • Outstanding customer service to customers and colleagues
  • Commitment to safety, quality and efficiency
  • Advanced organisational and management skills
  • Personal commitment to continuing education
  • Someone who advocates for those in their care
  • Someone who motivates customers to live a fuller life.

2019 Clinical Excellence

Winner: Rowena Gatchalian

We recognise the clinicians who have made an outstanding contribution through:

  • Outstanding and compassionate care
  • An ability to be an advocate and professional role model
  • Leading, developing and delivering programs that have a positive outcome for our customers
  • A commitment to safety and quality
  • A personal commitment to continuing education
  • Consistent technical excellence in their daily nursing practice.

2019 Outstanding Carer (Resident Care)

Winner: Arpit Modi

We recognise individuals or teams who have provided outstanding and compassionate care through:

  • An outstanding contribution to improving care for residents
  • Positive results in residents care every day, sometimes in the face of adversity or other challenges
  • Understanding, compassion or courage
  • A willingness to ensure our residents are the centre of everything they do.

2019 Outstanding Carer (Dementia Care)

Winner: Era Bista

We recognise individuals or teams who have provided outstanding and compassionate dementia care through:

  • An outstanding contribution to improving care for dementia residents
  • Positive results in residents dementia care every day, sometimes in the face of adversity or other challenges
  • Understanding, compassion or courage
  • A willingness to ensure our dementia customers are the centre of everything they do.

2019 Outstanding Personal Leadership

Winner: Hannah Coelho

We recognise leaders who have helped their team achieve exceptional performance through:

  • A clear purpose, value, direction and performance expectation for their team, department or project
  • Setting and meeting high standards and helping others achieve them
  • Demonstrating timely and effective decision making, reporting, and risk management skills
  • Showing a commitment to safety, quality systems, social and environmental responsibility
  • Encouraging creativity, collaboration, positivity and innovation
  • Helping staff expand their skills, confidence, talent and thinking
  • Giving their own time to advise and guide team members’ careers.

2019 Volunteer of the Year

Winners: John Lightfoot and Tom Burrell

We recognise volunteers who have provided outstanding service through:

  • Working tirelessly at a facility for an extended period
  • Providing exceptional care and support for older people and their carers
  • Adding to the everyday experiences of our customers and enriching their lives
  • Providing great support to our staff.

2019 Outstanding Safety Contribution

Winner: Andrew Harstonge

We recognise staff who have shown an outstanding commitment to injury prevention through:

  • An active commitment to injury prevention
  • Personal leadership in creating workplace routines or procedures which lead to a safer workplace and/or reduced injury rates
  • Identifying and implementing effective solutions to control hazards in the workplace
  • Actions which have improved health and safety outcomes for customers and their colleagues.

2019 Environmental Leadership

Winner: Regis Wynnum

We will recognise teams who have made a significant and voluntary contribution to environmental sustainability through projects that

  • Have had a positive impact on the environment and have a meaningful and demonstrable impact on Regis by helping protect the environment and/or enhance the quality of life for customers.
  • Embraces innovation/ creativity and is a new concept, technology or practice for Regis.
  • Overcame challenges to be implemented.
  • Is transferable and can be replicated by sites/ teams.
  • Demonstrates initiative and how the group took voluntary action to move environmental sustainability forward at their site.

2019 Facility of the Year

Winner: Regis Kingswood

We recognise the facility that has shown an outstanding performance across the following categories throughout the 2018/2019 financial year.

2019 CEO Award

Winner: Rowena Gatchalian

The winner is selected by the CEO from all shortlisted nominations and goes to the team or individual whose actions make them a true ambassador of Regis. This award recognises integrity, exceptional skills, leadership and/or innovation, and those who have had a positive impact on our customers and/or colleagues.
